- "Dr Marc Adams performed acupuncture on me after months of struggling with a frozen shoulder. I was receiving chiropractic regularly and doing exercises but still needed something to get me past a “stuck point”, he was excellent. Not only did I feel immediate results in his office, but the results have been lasting. My shoulder is the best it has been in over a year. I plan to get a second treatment soon. I highly recommend Dr. Adams."
- "Being skeptical I couldn't believe how I saw positive results on 1st visit. For years I couldn't reach my arm above my head. At my 1st appointment I walked out reaching high. Looking forward to continuing my visits.
- "Out of nowhere I started to develop excruciating pain, bed ridden, hip pain radiating down my legs. After a few days, out of concern I checked into a hospital. They could not give me any answers as to what was going on, just offered me pain killers as a band aid (which I do not like or want to take). Dr. Adams' acupuncture treatments have helped me in the past so I knew he was my only hope for relief. The day after having one treatment with Dr. Adams my pain was at least 80% better and the days following that it completely diminished and hasn't returned. I have forgotten my pain existed at all! I'm not surprised his treatment worked, I knew it would, however, it still continues to amaze me what acupuncture can really do! Dr. Adams is very knowledgeable in his field and I urge anyone suffering, with anything at all, to give Sakonnet Acupuncture a try."
- "I started a new exercise program and strained my neck. The next morning I was in pain and could not turn my head to either side. I was treated by Dr. Adams later that day with acupuncture. I only felt a little relief initially, but the next morning I woke up pain free and could move my neck great and I was able to go out and shovel snow."
Acupuncture is part of a system of medical care over 2000 years-old. In Traditional Chinese Medicine an acupuncture diagnosis is based on using the radial pulse to evaluate the energy flow, or Chi, through meridians in the body. There can be blockages to that flow of energy that adversely affect the health of a person. Needles can be inserted just beneath the skin at specific points along the energy pathways unblocking the meridians to restore health and alleviate symptoms.
Japanese palpation-based acupuncture, the style used in our office, is different in that the diagnosis and monitoring of the treatment are done not by a pulse diagnosis but by palpating reflection zones in the abdomen. Palpation and pressure on corresponding acupuncture points to see if there is a positive change of the reflection zones and energy flow in the meridians is done before any needles are inserted. This allows us to use fewer needles, smaller needles, and allow the patient to feel the positive change of treating a point even before a needle is ever used.
In our modern society the pulse diagnosis can often be difficult or impossible to interpret because of so many prescription and over the counter medications taken.
So even if other styles of acupuncture have not helped you and treatment by your medical doctors has not provided relief then Palpation Based Acupuncture can be used to determine why your body is not taking care of the problem on its own and guide you toward health.
